Research
Most of my research work is applied, empirical in nature, and focuses on three major areas: (i) the industrial organization of food industries (studying structure, conduct, and performance of the food marketing system in terms of strategic firm behavior and rapid agricultural industrialization, and their impact on farmers, agribusiness firms, and consumers), (ii) the economics of
cooperatives  (studying cooperative marketing strategies and cooperative performance, organizational behavior, and the role of cooperatives in community economic development), and to a much lesser extent (iii) food marketing and consumer behavior and how it impacts the food system.

Industrial Relevance

Analysis of strategies, structure, performance, and competitiveness of industries; assist public/government agencies to assess market competitiveness, and develop strategies for economic development; conducting market research to solve marketing-related issues.

Teaching
My teaching interests are aligned with and complemented by my research interests and expertise.  I currently teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of food marketing, marketing research, and industrial organization.  In addition, I have non-classroom teaching responsibilities, such as student advising and supervising cooperative education students.

In my continued efforts to become a better teacher, I regularly attend teaching workshops and seminars, and use different forms of emerging technology for teaching and learning.  For instance, I am incorporating a dual-learning mode (i.e., in-class plus on-line) for students in my undergraduate classes using eCompanion®.  Overall, I am very committed to teaching and I plan to continue this very fulfilling aspect of the academia.

I am also a faculty associate of Rutgers University’s South Asia Studies Program. The primary goal of this Program is to promote the study of this region and its diasporic communities through the development of an interdisciplinary set of courses, speakers' series, and public events.
