Purpose of the CROPS, the Plant Biology Graduate Student Association

• Enhance faculty-student relationships within the program
• Promote the camaraderie and unity among the Plant Biology graduate students who work within the various departments and centers the graduate program encompasses
• Provide advice and support among the graduate students of the program regarding graduate student issues

Goals of CROPS

• Organize social activities such as field trips and Friday afternoon lunches/ happy hours, for the purpose of enabling students and faculty to interact in more casual environments
• Start a journal club for the purpose of improving student presentation skills and learning about current research in plant biology
• Help out with student recruitment into the graduate program
• Organize the fall welcome party to orient the new students to the program
• Represent the program in the Rutgers GSA
• Provide a causal place where plant scientists can discuss and learn about topics in plant biology

Membership

Membership is automatic for all students currently enrolled in the Graduate Program in Plant Biology . Upon recommendation, other persons who demonstrate an interest in the area of plant biology may also become members. This may include students enrolled in other graduate programs, prospective Plant Biology Graduate students, technicians, and post-doctoral researchers.
