Biodiversity Center

Biotechnology Center for Agriculture and Environment

Center For Controlled Environmental Agriculture
This Center was established in 1988 by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station to promote interdisciplinary research and technology transfer among industry, growers and researchers in the area of controlled environment agriculture and greenhouse technology. One of the primary goals of this cooperative effort is to maintain and improve an economically strong and sensitive environmentally-aware industry.

Center For Deep-Sea Ecology and Biotechnology
The Center for Deep-Sea Ecology and Biotechnology (CDSEB), which resides within the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences (IMCS), provides an organizational structure for facilitating and integrating deep-sea ecological and biotechnological research at Rutgers, as well as in the scientific community at large. CDSEB has an active, ongoing program of molecular genetic analyses of deep-sea and other marine organisms and houses the world's largest collection of ultra-low frozen organisms from deep-sea hydrothermal vents and cold-water sulfide methane seeps.

The center, which is the first statewide environment research /technology development in the nation, aims to promote growth that is both economically viable and environmental sustainable to New Jersey . It also performs research and develops new technologies to address the pressing environmental, solid waste, and resource-recovery issues faced in New Jersey.
