Environmental Equity/Justice

Environmental equity and justice embraces the concept that all people and communities should have access to environmental amenities, as well as to equal protection of environmental and public health laws and regulations. The focus is particularly on the fact that certain elements of the population face greater risks from exposure to environmental hazards than do others. At Rutgers University, we have begun to work with our host communities and other communities across the state on projects promoting these principles. We welcome the opportunity to work further with communities on these issues.
