COLLECTIVELY GET TEN ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS TO SWITCH TO PURCHASE OF RECYCLED-CONTENT PAPER SO WE CAN ALL WIN A FREE PIZZA PARTY IN NOVEMBER, 2004. We have provided a model letter for student use in persuading their academic departments to begin purchase of recycled-content paper. Now that half of all university paper purchases (purchases by all those who report to Vice President for Administrative Affairs Karen Kavanagh) are using recycled-content paper, we are asking our academic departments to make the switch, as well. Recycled paper performance has been brought into line with virgin paper, and prices are competitive. Please personalize the letter we have supplied, and send it, preferably via email, to your department chair and/or the person who orders paper for your academic department. Then follow up as you can to find out if your department switched its ordering to recycled-content paper. For additional information on paper at Rutgers and elsewhere, please look at the Paper/Toner Cartridge Initiative portion of the Enviro-Connect website, http://aesop.rutgers.edu/~enviro/, or contact Environmental Coordinator Priscilla Hayes, 732-932-9155, x 233 or 609-499-3600, x237 or hayes@aesop.rutgers.edu.
