Porfolio Instructions
Your portfolio may be as plain or fancy as you wish. As long as all the information is in it, your grade will be good..
You will receive the photos of your arrangements on Monday, December 10th, at the time you take your final exam.
Pricing:
The wholesale prices of the flowers and supplies you used are in a separate
link. You will find them on the Commercial Floral Design page of the Greenmachine
Website.
A. Your first job is to determine the retail prices you would charge, using the following guidelines:
1. There is a 3 to 1 markup on all cut flowers and foliage. This means that the retail price is three times what the wholesale price was. A flower that costs $1.00 wholesale has a retail price of $3.00. The same goes for foliage or greens.
2. There is a 2 to 1 markup on supply items. These are everything except flowers and greens or live foliage. A dish that costs $1.50 has a retail price of $3.00. This includes foam, ribbon, candles, and dry flower or foliage items such as cattails.
3. You will figure your cost of labor to be $5.00 per hour, and estimate the time it took to make your arrangement.
B. Your second job it to give descriptions of the arrangements. Be as cursory or complete as you wish.
C. Your third job is to attach the photos to the pages next to the descriptions and calculated retail prices
D. You will be allowed to leave out one week's work without penalty.
You will have one week to finish your portfolio. Drop it off at my office, 382 Foran Hall on Monday, December 17th between 11:00 am and 4:30 pm.
In the event that I am not in my office, leave your portfolio in the container that will be located just outside my door.
Your portfolios will be available for pickup anytime during January or February of 2007. Any left after that time will be discarded.
The portfolio will count toward 15% of your final grade.
