Line Arrangements

Line arrangements are constructed of trilinear lines and encompass simplicity of design. These arrangements had their origins in the orient, especially in Japan, where designs are inelaborate and uncomplicated. Three basix lines are tradionally used in the traditional floral art of Japanese Ikebana, which bases its principles on the concepts of dominance, proportion, balance, and rhythm. Thes symbolize the philosophical concepts of Buddhism. Most of these line arrangements are used in making contemporary arrangements. The picture at the right is a modern representation of a line arrangement.
