Setting up your AESOP email using Qualcomm Eudora 7


Step 1. Open Eudora and click TOOLS, then OPTIONS...




Step 2. Under the GETTING STARTED menu, Enter your name & email address. If you are using POP3, enter pop.aesop.rutgers.edu as the INCOMING MAIL SERVER. If you want to keep messages on the server because you have multiple offices, you may want to use IMAP. Consult your IT support personnel to figure out which is best for you. If you do you IMAP, you'll need to enter imap.aesop.rutgers.edu as the INCOMING MAIL SERVER. Enter your AESOP username in the USER NAME field, and enter mail.aesop.rutgers.edu in the SMTP SERVER (OUTGOING) field.



Step 3: Under the CHECKING MAIL menu, make sure the MAIL SERVER is set to either pop.aesop.rutgers.edu or imap.aesop.rutgers.edu, depending on the protocol you are using to check mail. Also, make sure your username is correct. Under SECURE SOCKETS WHEN RECEIVING, choose REQUIRED, ALTERNATE PORT.





Step 4: Under the SENDING MAIL menu, make sure your EMAIL is correct, and your SMTP server is set to mail.aesop.rutgers.edu. Check the boxes labeled ALLOW AUTHENTICATION, and USE SUBMISSION PORT 587. Also, make sure SECURE SOCKETS WHEN SENDING is set to REQUIRED, STARTTLS.



Click ok to save changes.
