Subscribing and Unsubscribing to the Personals Listserv

The PERSONALS listserv is intended for non-official business, such as buying or selling items, asking questions, seeking recommendations, etc.. When you have a non-business item, you should send it to PERSONALS@AESOP, rather than COOKPEOPLE@AESOP. Anyone who has subscribed themselves to the PERSONALS e-mail distribution list will receive your message. Try to make the distinction between sending to the PERSONALS list and subscribing to the PERSONALS list now. You CANNOT SUBSCRIBE to the PERSONALS list by sending to the PERSONALS list! Your subscription request will be distributed to all of the PERSONALS subscribers, rather than acted upon as you intended.

Use of this site must comply with Rutgers Acceptable Use Policy 70.1.1 which includes the following, "Computing and information technology resources must be used only for their intended purposes. Violations include using university computing or network resources for advertising or other commercial purposes". Read the full policy here.

In order to SUBSCRIBE to the PERSONALS list:
Send a mail message to MAILSERV@AESOP.RUTGERS.EDU, and in the message body (not the
SUBJECT line) type:

SUBSCRIBE PERSONALS

Make sure you have only those two words in the message, if you have a signature or anything else, please remove it before sending. The system wants to parse each line of your message, so any extraneous text will be read and the system will try and apply it to your request.

You will receive a confirmation that you are subscribed to the list as well as welcome message.



In order to UNSUBSCRIBE to the PERSONALS list:
Send a mail message to MAILSERV@AESOP.RUTGERS.EDU, and in the message body (not the SUBJECT line) type:

UNSUBSCRIBE PERSONALS

Make sure you have only those two words in the message, if you have a signature or anything else, please remove it before sending. The system wants to parse each line of your message, so any extraneous text will be read and the system will try and apply it to your request.

You will receive a confirmation that you have unsubscribed from the list.
