2007 Crossmen

...when all else is gone, the BONES always remain...

what the heck

do i need?

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of things to consider bringing on tour with you. This will of course vary from person to person, but this combines many many lists of things, and you can kind of pick and choose what will work best for you.

Thanks to Paula for pulling a lot of this together...

Clothes

*Socks - Bring 20 pairs of regular sneaker socks...enough 2 last 2 weeks, and a few extras in case of rain
*KNEE HIGH BLACK SOCKS - Figure 3-4 pairs of these for shows

*Underwear - enough to last for at least 2 weeks
*Shorts/T-shirts/tank tops - Most of the time, you CAN absolutely survive with only 1-2 pairs of shorts. Girls usually tend to bring more than guys, but either way you can recycle. Bring LIMITED tops, as you can recycle these. Most of the time, guys will not wear shirts during rehearsals, so you'll be able to stretch out your shirts for a long time.
*Sports Bras/bathing suit tops - varied cuts to get rid of tan lines are best. I'd bring about 10. Remember to bring black bras, or dark colored ones to wear underneath your uniform.
*Sneakers - *2* pairs, just in case one pair gets wet.
*Sweatshirt/Hoodie
*Long sleeved shirts - Some people like em, some don't. This is totally up to you...they are nice to have sometimes when it gets cold on the bus or at a night rehearsal during spring training, but you can certainly live without them.
*Pajama pants/sweatpants - Make sure you have some for the bus since it can get kinda cold sometimes.
*Blue jeans - sometimes we'll have to wear these for stage performances so just bring a pair along.
*Nice clothes for free days - don't go crazy, because the bus loaders are nice people and we don't want them getting mad, but it is always nice to put on some "normal" clothes once in a while. Figure 1-2 normal outfits will get you through the whole summer.
*Watch - this is a place where you'll always need to be on time, so some sort of time keeping device would be wise to have.
*Extra shoelaces - optional for rehearsal shoes, but you're going to want a new pair for your Dinkles late in the season.

*TRASHBAGS! BRING A FEW OF THESE. THEY WORK FOR EVERYTHING FROM CLOTHING, TO HOLDING STUFF, TO KEEPING THINGS DRY...YOU WILL LOVE THESE BAD BOYS!!

Rehearsal

*Backpack - to keep all your stuff in
*Water Bottle - Required. You can get one that has a shoulder strap, or attach a makeshift one to free your hands. Has to be at least a gallon.
*Hat/visor - Required. You can also bring bandanas to help get rid of hat tan lines, but use bandanas sparingly. Matching section hats and other type things STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
*RED Towel - They have a tendency to walk on their own so it's a good idea to bring more than one...also make sure to write your name on it so you know which one is yours.
*Dot Book - You were shown a couple examples of dotbooks, so bring whatever you found to the April camp, and if you need to look for a different type, we'll tell you. More info on dotbooks to come.
*3-Ring Binder w/plastic pages - to put music and drill in. It's a good idea to have one for music and one for drill.
*Scissors/Hole-puncher - To cut dotbook pages.
*Hi-liters and Sharpie - for marking drill pages.
*Pencils - the mechanical kind works best.
*Practice Gloves - you can get these from the administration.
*Advil/Aleve/Tylenol/Excedrin...you're going to need it. =)
*Ace Bandage
*Insoles/supports for shoes/dinkles You'd be surprised how much of a difference these things can make
*Sunscreen - higher numbers for earlier in the season
*Bug Spray - you're gonna want it.
*Band Aids - Joan or the trainer have them, but always a good idea to keep some in your rehearsal bag.
*Flashlight
*Raincoat/poncho (Always keep rain gear and pants in your backpack, rain does NOT stop us from rehearsing)
*DCT

*Stick tape

*DRUM PAD - extra pair of sticks

Shower

*Toolbox/Bag for toiletries
*Shampoo/Conditioner (or a 2-in-1 for quicker showers)
*Soap/Body Wash
*Shower poof/washcloth
*Deodorant
*Gold Bond
*Foot Spray
*Brush/Comb
*Toothpaste/Toothbrush
*Shaving gel - the trial sizes are great
*Razor w/ spare blades
*Q-tips
*Fingernail clipper/nail file
*Cough Drops
*Tissues
*Aloe Vera gel with Lanocaine
*Contacts and saline
*Any other medication
*Feminine needs - (I won't go into detail here)
*Shower Shoes (optional...you might stop using them all together)
*Towel - you might want to bring one, but you CAN recycle...or share with someone else

*** In many cases, you can survive the summer simply using paper towels to dry yourself off...heh.

Bus

*BUS BOX - This should be a tool box, or small box, that can fit under your seat and hold all of the stuff you need to bring with you!
*Show Gloves - it's a good idea to hide an extra pair on the bus incase you misplace yours before a show.
*Walkman/Discman/Mp3 player
*Extra batteries and/or charger
*CDs - bring a variety so you don't get sick of them. Make sure to keep track of them too, CDs tend to get "lost" easily on tour. If you have a cd burner and can make copies, I would recommend doing so...not always the best idea to bring originals on tour.
*A good boo
*Camera of some sort
*Journal/Pad - WRITE THINGS DOWN! Memories=Happy
*Small ziploc bags
*Envelopes/Stamps/Address Book
*Writing utensils
*Videos/DVDs - We do have DVD players on the busses
*Wallet/keys
*Phone Cards or Cell Phone/Charger
*A roll or two of quarters for laundry days
*Detergent/dryer sheets/stainstick - those Tide tablets are easy to travel with.
*Febreeze
*Duct tape - THERE'S NOTHING IT CAN'T DO!!!!!
*Snacks - hide them or bring extras...everyone else will want you to share
*Cozy Blanket - when the AC is on extra-high
*Glasses/Contacts - make sure you bring a hard case.
*Suction Cup Things (hooks, baskets) - to stick to the windows...trust me, they come in handy.
*Bungie Cords - to hang stuff from on the bus. But PLEASE don't hang your wet socks and underwear from the ceiling. It's disgusting.
*Anti-bacterial hand wipes - Not only do they clean your hands, they also work well on getting some dirt off Dinkles
*DCT

Show

*Black Spandex/Underarmor Shorts - DO NOT WEAR REGULAR UNDERWEAR UNDER YOUR UNIFORM. THE LINES WILL SHOW.
*Black UNDERARMOR ONLY - make sure they are crew necks(or the wal*mart underarmor equivalent) THERE CAN BE NO DECAL ON THE BACK OF YOUR UNDERSHIRT. IF YOU PURCHASE UNDERARMOR, PLEASE BLACK OUT THE LOGO/DECAL ON THE BACK!!!

*Black Electrical Tape - to tape gloves

*Headband for under your aussie (if you need it)
*Socks - Black KNEE HIGH SOCKS ONLY!!!
*Silver polish - Hagerty's works very well
*Snake/mouthpiece brush
*BLACK SHOE POLISH FOR DINKLES
*Soft scrub - cleans dinkles VERY well
*Rags and an old toothbrush - For polishing shoes (or you can just use extra material from the half-tees)
*Hair Gel/clips(make sure the clips are either brown or black, NO SILVER CLIPS!)
*DCT

Other (yet very important)

Sleeping Bag
Pillow
Fluffy, your stuffed teddy bear (for those lonely nights...)
Floor mat/pad - to give you a bit more padding on those gym floors.
---------------------------------------------------------- So...with everything packed, this is what you should have:
*Medium-sized duffle bag/suitcase - DO NOT BRING LARGE BAGS! We love the bus loaders!
*A backpack - with all your rehearsal stuff
*A water cooler
*Sleeping bag/pad
*Pillow
*Toolbox w/toiletries
