Thomas Leustek is a Professor in the Biotechnology Center for Agriculture and the Environment and the Department of Plant Biology and Pathology. His laboratory is situated in Foran Hall on the Cook Campus of Rutgers University's School of Environmental and Biological Sciences in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His research focuses on mineral nutrition and amino acid metabolism in plants and microbes.  He uses molecular, biochemical, and physiological methods to study how the assimilation, transport, and homeostasis of mineral nutrients into amino acids is controlled. Leustek's work has application to the development of crop plants with improved nutritional quality and agricultural properties.  Leustek teaches Molecular Genetics, a lecture course associated with an undergraduate curriculum in biotechnology. He is a member of the Graduate Programs in Plant Biology, Molecular Biosciences, and Food Science.
