Research Interests

Research is focused on greenhouse crop production systems and strategies to reduce energy requirements to grow new commercial cultivars of hybrid lilies.  The cultivars were developed using advanced plant breeding techniques.  These cultivars are propagated by tissue culture methods and manipulation to produce flowering plants in 2 to 4 months in the greenhouse.  Our research methods make it possible to go from plant cells to virus-free flowering plants in 40 to 52 weeks rather than the norm of 2 to 3 years.
