Research Interests

The turfgrass management research program has the overall goal of understanding and improving the stress tolerance and persistence of turf particularly as related to the edaphic environment and cultural management practices. Current research projects include (1) development of best management (cultural) practices to reduce anthracnose disease on annual bluegrass, (2) assessment of traffic stress effects on turfgrasses; (3) improvement of turf and playing surface uniformity of mixed-species swards on golf course fairways; and (4) assessing turf persistence and performance under ‘organic’ management. These projects are primarily applied field research trials that complement my Extension activities as well as my teaching responsibilities.
